For more than 24 years, we’ve had the privilege of teaching thousands of children in the Charleston community. Over the years, we’ve been asked one question again and again:
“What makes Dance Moves different?”
The answer isn’t one big thing. It’s the way we do the little things, every single day.
1. We’re Organized, Consistent, and Safety Comes First
Parents have enough to keep track of—we don’t want dance to add to the chaos.
We work hard to communicate clearly, stay organized, and make sure every member of our team knows exactly what they’re responsible for. That consistency allows us to create a safe, welcoming environment where children can focus on learning, growing, and having fun.
When the adults are organized, the kids benefit.
2. We’re Proudly Non-Competitive
Dance Moves is one of the few studios in the Charleston area that focuses entirely on recreational dance.
We believe children can receive excellent dance training without the pressure, expense, and time commitment of competition. Our students still learn discipline, technique, and the value of hard work—they just get to do it in a way that leaves room for family, school, sports, and simply being kids.
Our goal has always been to help children fall in love with dance—not burn out from it.
3. We’re More Than a Dance Studio—We’re a Community
One of the things we love most about Dance Moves is the community that’s grown over the years.
There’s a good chance you’ll recognize another family in the lobby from your neighborhood, your child’s school, or another activity around town. Friendships are built here, and our annual recital feels like a community celebration where everyone comes together to cheer each other on.
One of the greatest compliments we receive is when a family enrolls a younger sibling after watching an older brother or sister grow up with us. That’s something we’ll never take for granted.
4. Our People Make the Difference
We care deeply about the people we hire.
Our instructors come from a variety of professional backgrounds and bring incredible experience, but great résumés aren’t enough. We look for teachers who genuinely love working with children and believe in the positive, encouraging culture we’ve built.
If someone isn’t the right fit for our studio, we make a change. Protecting the experience our families have come to expect will always be one of our highest priorities.
5. Every Child Matters
At Dance Moves, we believe dance is for every child—not just the ones who dream of becoming professional dancers.
Some students come to us because they love to perform. Others are here to make friends, build confidence, get exercise, or simply try something new.
No matter why they walk through our doors, they deserve to feel seen, encouraged, and successful.
Our teachers celebrate effort just as much as achievement. We want every child to leave class feeling proud of themselves, excited to come back next week, and knowing they belong here.

After more than two decades, we’ve likely taught a sibling, a cousin, a neighbor, or a family friend. Watching generations of families come through our doors is something we’ll never take for granted.
