Maya Alizzeo

Maya Alizzeo currently serves as the Education Director and Manager of the James Island studio, combining her passion for dance education with curriculum development, teacher mentorship, and studio leadership.

She graduated from Elon University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Design and a minor in Dance. During her time at Elon, she was actively involved in the university's campus dance organization, DanceWorks, serving as a performance and class choreographer, dance photographer, and PR board member. Through an Elon program, Maya spent a summer in Los Angeles studying dance, dance film, and photography. There, she trained under various professional choreographers while preparing for the university's annual Fall Showcase.

Originally from Meadville, Pennsylvania, Maya began dancing at the age of three, training in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and contemporary at Allegro Dance Arts. Her love for dance continued to grow through years of performance, including seven seasons with Oil Region Ballet Company, where she refined her technique and developed a passion for storytelling through movement.

Over the past year, Maya has taught dancers ranging from age three through adulthood in ballet, contemporary, modern, hip hop, and jazz. She is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging classroom environment at Dance Moves, where dancers feel confident to challenge themselves, grow as artists, and develop a lifelong love of movement.
